Pre-Trip Preparation Checklist

  • Check your travel documents before you travel.  Is your passport still valid? Has your name changed? Do you need a visa for your destination?  Are vaccinations required?

  • PASSPORTS. Please ensure that the validity of your passport is at least six (6) months after the date of your intended stay out of the Philippines.

  • PASSENGER ID. For international travel, please check the validity of your passport.  For domestic travel, passenger must carry a valid, government issued identification as proof of passenger identity upon check-in.  Please note that passenger name on ticket must EXACTLY match NAME as written on your passport / identification.

  • VISA. Check if your destination will require a visa or transit visa for Philippine passport holders. Please secure the proper visa entry (single or multiple) and visa type (purpose of visit) for your destination.  Different embassies have different visa processing times.  Apply for your visa at least a month before your intended date of travel.

  • Review your e-ticket and check for any discrepancies or correction in terms of name of passenger/s itinerary, travel dates, flight details, class of service.  Should you spot any mistake or discrepancy, please immediately report this to your travel consultant within the day of ticket issuance to avoid any inconvenience and penalties.  Please note that any changes to the issued ticket are subject to penalties.

  • Make sure that your confirmation has your e-ticket number on it.  Most often it is listed under traveller information.  You cannot travel without a ticket number as your proof of purchase.

  • It is advisable to purchase travel insurance and protection for the duration of your travel.

  • Ensure that you have a photocopy of your passport, ticket, visa, travel insurance, credit cards and other important travel documents and keep it separate.  This will help you replace them in case of loss/theft.  You may keep either on your smartphone or a hard copy that may be remotely accessed anytime for reference.

  • Know about your destination.  Its attractions and general information.  Check the website for maps and travel reviews and other info related to the city you will be visiting.

  • Check the weather forecast for your destination.  Visit www. weather.com

  • Check the local currency of your destination and the rate of exchange.  Visit www.xe.com or www.oanda.com for this information

  • Be aware of the time zone in your destination. Visit www.worldtimeserver.com

  • Be aware of power outlets and voltage information of your destination. Have a universal travel adaptor with you when you travel to ensure power connection at all times.

  • Use TSA locks in securing your baggage. Some airports may require opening your bags for further inspection. TSA locks can be opened by airport security officers using universal "master" keys. For more information, you can visit www.tsa.gov.

  • Label your baggage with your name, mobile number, and permanent & temporary address on it. Put labels both inside and outside each of your bags.  Distinguish your baggage from others by using ribbons, stickers, colourful tags for easy identification.  Take a digital photo of your baggage.  This will help the baggage agent to complete your claim in the event of any baggage delay or loss. Making an inventory list of your baggage content is also a good tip.

  • BAGGAGE.  Free baggage allowance, weight and size specifications always depend on the airline, the aircraft used and the class of service booked.  Please check on your airline’s Baggage Allowance Policy & Restrictions.  This information is available on your ticket or the airlines’ website.

  • Pack smart.  Plan what you will bring based on the weather of your destination and the purpose of your trip.  Luggage hassles can ruin your trip so plan in advance and be informed of restrictions and security policies.

  • Flight Wear.  For your own comfort during the flight wear clothing that allows you to relax and move comfortably at the same time.  Layering is best as it allows you to adjust to the cabin temperature.  Most important of all is wear comfortable shoes.

  • Double check your departure and arrival times indicated in your e-ticket. Please note that departure/arrival times in your ticket are printed in 24-hour clock or military time. To understand military time, please visit www.militarytimechart.com

  • Call your bank and credit card Company to let them know where you are going. This is a great fraud prevention tip. Carry a back-up credit card. Keep copies of your credit card companies and phone numbers you can readily access in case of emergency.

  • If you require a special diet or other special assistance like wheelchair, please inform your airline and agent in advance

  • Inform airline of your frequent flyer membership number prior to ticketing or prior to your departure date

  • Check with your mobile provider on international roaming rates or partner telco providers in your destination

  • Never pack these items in your check-in baggage: Jewelry, medications, keys, cameras, electronics, lithium batteries /power banks, or anything else you can’t replace.  Bring an extra pair of your prescription lenses.

  • Note the TSA liquid rule. You are allowed to liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. Placing these items in the small bag and separating from your carry-on baggage facilitates the screening process. Pack items that are in containers larger than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters in checked baggage.

  • Travel with a sense of humor, patience, and a spirit of adventure.  Prepare to be flexible as many things can be out of your control when you travel.
