Loss or Theft

If your passport or other travel document is lost or stolen:

• Get a police report if possible.

• Report it to the nearest embassy or consulate.

• If you have a photocopy of your passport, the process will be much simpler. If you do not, someone from home will need to fax a photocopy of your passport, or your birth certificate, or whatever ID the embassy requires.

If your credit cards or travelers checks are lost or stolen:

• Contact the issuing company as soon as possible. Your immediate notification will block the use of your card and will keep you from being liable from any fraudulent use.
